New updates are coming to reports, pricing, and rewards. We're getting the word out early.


Following the recent app update, we’re speeding up the rollout on several key product improvements intended to: 

  1. Make pricing more transparent 
  2. Simplify and de-risk rewards so no one pays more than their fair share

More transparency on our usage based pricing 

Our strategy on pricing is to  charge simple usage-based fee to the services we know actively drive new sales. The rest of the tools we provide are free as part of the platform. This ensures that our interests are aligned for the long haul (Read: What it would cost to pay separately for all the tools joe provides at no cost). 

In the past, we bundled usage-based pricing with payment processing, loyalty marketing, online ordering, admin tools, CRM, campaigns, POS software, and branded app experience in one single number. 

Now, we’ll be separating payment processing for in-person and online payments from our usage based fees by service type based on 3 major buckets: 

  • Reward Redemptions  - This includes all Reward Redemptions and covers the tech to manage the program. 

  • Customer Acquisition & Loyalty Marketing -  The web, online storefront, marketplace app, and branded app experience tools and features that you usually pay for as separate software subscriptions are all included here. 

  • Subscriptions - If you choose the subscription option alternative (see below), you’ll see those fees here. This option is available for shops running on the POS only.

Introducing a subscription option 

For some folks, it just feels good to know exactly what you’ll pay each month for a service. Now, we offer a single monthly subscription option plus industry-low payment processing rate (via Stripe) for shops that prefer that pricing model. See what you’d pay with our subscription alternative here. Cost may vary depending on # of employees and KDS screens.

Simplifying and de-risking joe Rewards 

Right now, coffee shops are liable for up to 9% of sales going towards reward redemptions. As part of our effort to improve our service we are releasing new technology to manage rewards centrally and ensure that you never pay more than your fair share.

Following the update, you’ll see 4 key changes: 

  1. Reward redemptions will be paid for by joe 
  2. Sales tax on reward redemptions will be paid for by joe 
  3. Discounts from promo codes you create will be the only subtraction from gross revenue
  4. Reward redemptions will be funded by a % on every joe Rewards payment (5% for POS, 8% for mobile-only)

Following the update, the cost of the joe rewards program will stay flat or go down as a % of sales depending on your current rate of redemptions. Get details on how reporting will change to reflect the update here.
