Meet Maple Moose Coffee

We sat down with Paula and Preslee, mother daughter duo and owners of Maple Moose Coffee Company to learn about how joe Point of Sale and the built in loyalty marketing program helped differentiate this coffee shop from competition.

The Goal: Differentiating from competition

Maple Moose Coffee Company is located in Umatilla, Oregon, where the drive-thru coffee business model is very popular. The customer demographic of the town is mostly made up teachers, medical professionals, and construction workers who are commuting every day. Convenient coffee is definitely a staple.

When Preslee and her mother Paula decided to open a coffee shop alongside the family's bistro, they were already thinking long-term success and growth. Simply opening and operating wouldn't set her shop apart from others. 

“A big challenge we were facing was how to get people to visit. We wanted something that will draw people in and keep them coming back?" said Preslee.

Convenience was a must, but so was offering something her competitors couldn't.

From branding to menu items, Preslee was determined her shop would be different. And what this duo considered, which other shop owners overlook, is how her technology behind the counter would be that differentiator. “At first we considered using the same POS as the restaurant and just changing the menu, but ultimately it didn’t fit our needs because it wasn’t built for coffee," Paula shared.

From mobile, joe's automated marketing engine is does the work to bring those customers more often and with larger ticket averages, all using the right message at the right time. In fact, the past 30 days, Maple Moose has generated $20,000 in revenue, and $6k that is attributed to joe's loyalty program. 

And utilizing joe Point of Sale, a system built specifically for independent coffee shops,  is positively impacting the experience in shop for owners, baristas and customers.
