Curbside and Pickup

How to enable curbside pickup

Cafe, coffee shop and coffee bar owners may now allow customers to choose curbside service for their walk out. Drive thrus which already walk out every order, can now turn on curbside as their only pickup option and enable their customers to alert baristas when they arrive. 

NOTE: With this new feature, tapping the Ready button after fulfilling the order is very important!

First, enable pickup options

To ensure your customers have the ability to choose their pick up options, follow these instructions. 

Set Delivery

From your desktop 

  • Step 1: Go to your merchant portal on a desktop, select the orange "Dashboard" icon located to the right of your shop location. This will take you to your store dashboard.
  • Step 2:  Select the "Options" tab. 
  • Step 3: Locate the "Order Delivery Types" section and enable your desired type of delivery, as pictured below. By default stores are set to "pick up" only.

From your dedicated tablet

  • Step 1:  Select the dropdown menu in the top right hand corner, followed by "Dashboard"
  • Step 2:  Select the "Options" tab. 
  • Step 3: Locate the "Order Delivery Types" section and enable your desired type of delivery, as pictured below. By default stores are set to "pick up" only.

Next, update your barista app

Now that you've enabled your choice of delivery, simply update the app to the delivery options apply.

  • Step 1: On your dedicated merchant tablet, completely close out of the joe app. Tap the icon that looks like two rectangles stacked, located next to the home button. This will minimize any apps running.
  • Step 2: Tap the "X" in the upper right hand corner to close out of joe. 
  • Step 3: Relaunch joe by tapping the joe icon on your home screen. 
  • Step 4: You will see the arrow around joe spin, the app will automatically update. 
Now you are ready to accept multiple delivery options, including curbside pickups!

If you select multiple options, customers can choose

If you opt to provide multiple pickup options (curbside + pickup at counter) customers will have the option to choose their preferred method of pickup. Please be sure to check the "Type" to view if it's "Pickup at counter" or "Curbside carry out"

If a customer selects "Curbside", after their order is complete they will be presented an  "I've arrived" button on their order screen.

When a customer selects the "I've arrived" button, an audible alert of a car horn will sound on the tablet. It will only sound once and does not need to be dismissed.
